ROBERT
E. BARD
Robert E. Bard is the president and CEO of LATINA Style
Magazine, a position he assumed in October 2001, after the
untimely passing of his spouse and business partner, Anna
Maria Arias, the founder, editor & publisher of the
magazine. Ms. Arias, in her eight years at the helm of the
magazine build it up to become the most respected publication
in the Latina market. An overwhelming response to Ms. Arias
demise from the Latina and Hispanic community inspired Mr.
Bard to devote his energies to keep her mission and the
goals of the magazine alive.
Prior
to his position at LATINA Style Mr. Bard was the founder
of The Bard Company (TBC) a consulting public affairs, public
relations, marketing and advertising firm specializing in
the U.S. Hispanic professional market. Among its many projects
TBC has developed extensive and unique programs for corporations
to create multi-level integrated Hispanic programs that
include educational issues, scholarship program creation,
supplier diversity development, corporate board development
and congressional interface.
Based
in Washington, D.C., TBC has established itself by creating
a number of successful national, regional and local programs
for such prestigious clients as American Express, Nordstrom,
The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility, LATINA
Style Magazine, SBC Communications, Anheuser Bush, the National
Hispanic Scholarship Fund and Hispanic Magazine.
With
over twenty years of marketing experience, Mr. Bard has
developed unique expertise on the workings of the U.S. Hispanic
media. As member of the team that successfully launched
Hispanic Magazine and LATINA Style Magazine, two of the
most respected media vehicles in the U.S. Hispanic market,
Mr. Bard has first hand knowledge on what is necessary for
a publication to establish itself in this elusive market.
He brings to his projects creativity, insight and solid
marketing skills developed during his service to leading
national corporations. His career path includes work in
the media, advertising and public relations agencies and
corporate marketing.
He is
actively involved in the endeavors of the Hispanic community
and he sits on a number of boards and commissions. Experience
as well as extensive community knowledge allows him to focus
on a particular project considering a wide range of solutions
that are not only marketing sound but also community sensitive.
He is a graduate of the MALDEF Leadership Training program,
is a member of the board of directors of the National Hispanic
University and co-chairs the Latina committee of the U.S.
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Mr.
Bard completed his undergraduate work at the California
State University at Northridge and completed his postgraduate
studies at the University of California in Los Angeles.
He is a native from Chile and is fluent in Spanish and French.
